Who is SOLVE exhibit

SOLVE, Country Club Collective, Chicago

Who is Solve? took place at Country Club Chicago-in conjunction with RGB (a loose collective of Solve's friends and fellow street artists) and AIGA Chicago from January 16-23, 2009.

A relaxed, familiar crowd packed into the space on opening night to honor and pay tribute to the late Brendan Scanlon, also known as Solve, who was stabbed to death in Logan Square on June 14, 2008. The exhibit proudly showcased around 100 of Solve's pieces representing a wide range of his provocative work--from interactive public pieces to found objects to well-manicured conceptual representations.

Country Club Chicago's tin roof and white walls housed the work, telling Solve's story throughout the Chicago art space. Country Club Chicago "is a group of artists and an art gallery dedicated to all things beautiful," their web site says.

"Sad, but enlightening - to know that the artist died so young, but left such a large mark during his time," said one designer attending the event. Tributes and support for Solve were palatable as family, friends and the Chicago design community came out to recognize Solve's prolific, gifted and young life as a street artist and graphic designer.
