The Graphic Imperative Exhibition At Loyola University Chicago

Loyola University Chicago's Crown Center Gallery presents The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment 1965-2005. The Graphic Imperative is a select retrospective of forty years of international sociopolitical posters. Themes include dissent, liberation, racism, sexism, human rights, civil rights, environmental and health concerns, AIDS, war, literacy and tolerance, collectively providing a window to an age of great change. Focusing on the issues of our turbulent times, these posters endeavor to show the social, political and aesthetic concerns of many cultures in a single exhibition through delineating themes and contrasting political realities. 

The exhibit opens November 14, 2008, from 5:30–7:30 pm and runs through December 19, 2008. Curator Elizabeth Resnick will speak at the opening.
