AIGA Chicago/CPS Education to Careers Job Shadow Program
AIGA and Chicago Public Schools' Education to Careers program are teaming up another year for the Job Shadow Program: junior- and senior-level high school students, enrolled in design courses, are given the opportunity to spend a half-day experiencing first-hand a career in design or printing.
Last year's inaugural event was very successful with over 50 students and 17 firms participating; we're hoping to further evolve and grow the project this year. The goal of this is to show the value of a higher education in design and to encourage a new generation of diverse and passionate professionals.
Details on the day:
9:00am to 1:00pm; October 15 & 16
On one or both of these days, your office can host as many students as you like. Please have extra computer stations to accommodate.
The exact itinerary is up to you, but here are basic elements of the morning:
+ Office
+ Portfolio Tour
+ Discussion
-- what you do
-- what you love about your career
-- war stories
-- advice on steps students can take now to seek a career in design or printing
+ Project Time (there will be a small exercise provided by AIGA/CPS for the students to do under your guidance)
+ Lunch
