Just Give Me My Shoes and My iPOD.
I'm sure like quite a few people in this world, I have often thought of running a Marathon or a Triathalon. It has always been a "one day" type of thing, but recently I have begun thinking more and more about it. I already have goals set in place to weightlift 3 times a week—whats a little extra cardio thrown on top? Well, a lot of extra cardio I suppose. At least this will help to give my Chocolate Lab a little more exercise in the beginning, beyond his normal hour at the dog park everyday.
However, after purchasing the book "The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer" by DavidWhitsett and Forrest Dolgener, who break the marathon down into training schedules with the sole purpose to get you across the finish line, I feel confident that I can do it. To start off, I will begin their preliminary training which will get you up to running for 30 minutes, which begins by getting you walking for 30 minutes and slowly increasing your rate for the next 10 weeks.
