Design Week Partner Event STA Partner Event: Chicago's Design History: Pioneers, Protégés and Pragmatists
Event Overview:
For most people history is boring, without relevance or application to their world. That is, until it becomes personal and connects you directly to those with names and faces that have walked your path, shared your dreams and, for many, provide support and inspiration.
Think about those designers that made an impact on your work, your career, your sense of yourself and what you love to do. Not only did they provide an example, they gave you permission to do the same and more.

We’re influenced by so many great designers, that were also influenced by great designers. When we know WHO and appreciate HOW we will understand WHY. By understanding our very own history, and who has influenced those that continue to motivate us today, the WHY will become quite clear.
Several of Chicago’s local legends will walk and talk us through the past to the present. The Chicago Design Archive will provide images and videos from their online library. Stories and backstories will add color and spice to a conversation supported by Bob Vogele of RVI and VSA and Bart Crosby of The Center for Advanced Research in Design (CARD) and later with Crosby Associates. In addition design historian Victor Margolin and moderator Joseph Michael Essex will provide context to the conversation. An opportunity for Q & A will follow.
Registration for this event will be through the STA website.
