General requirements for all board members

Each Board member is elected to serve and represent the entire membership of the AIGA Chicago to the best of his/her ability, in accordance with the AIGA mission and the description of the board position. The following is a list of general expectations and is a baseline, and by no means all-inclusive of the responsibilities of board members.

Attendance at board meetings is required. If not able to attend, notice accompanied by a monthly report must be submitted prior to the meeting. Ideally, a committee member would be sent to represent the board member and give the report.

  • Monthly board reports are to be submitted a minimum of 12 hours prior to the monthly board meeting.
  • Organize a committee to assist with carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Determine a succession plan for your position.
  • Attend a minimum of six Chapter events a year, in addition to the programming retreat and the annual members’ meeting.
  • Donate a prize to the annual scholarship fundraising event.
